DATAB overestimating person-years?

I’ve run DATAB to get person-tables over the period Jan 1, 1999 through Dec 31, 2012, a period of 14 total years. After loading the grouped dataset in AMFIT, Epicure’s estimate of mean person-years is 15.7 years, which is more than the total number of possible years per person. Does this seem reasonable given binned person-time averaging, or does this imply user error?

Thanks!

Hi Cato,

Doesn’t sound right by the quick description. Can you send the datab script and log to info@hirosoft.com? Let’s start with the syntax and make sure that the start/stop dates are properly defined. Please include the output from your mean statement as well as a ‘mean’ statement for all time variables.

Thanks!
Eric

This issue was closed off line and was traced to a syntax error.

If others have trouble with their DATAB scripts, let us know and we’ll try and figure out the difficulty.

Thanks, Cato, for the question!
